Band / Session Work
I have been involved with many different bands and various kinds of session work from a very early age. The first band I played in was called TouchStones and at the age of 14 I was the youngest member by some 20 years. I enjoyed regular gigging all over the county for several years. I also played with a successful function band called Galaxy for nearly 10 years. I have played in various Border bands including the weekly Jam session at Wood's Wine Bar in Yeovil and featuring on 2 CDs released by Border Music. I have also been involved with Pantomimes, Gang Shows and various other productions for the past 20 years.
Performing continues to be an important part of my musical life, playing most days in local schools, visiting various different community groups and functions, and occasionally visiting 'Jam' nights at local venues. I even had to opportunity to play in the 'Sanctuary Marque' at 'Glastonbury Festival 2009'. I have recently formed a new function band called 'MANDALAY BAY', playing many different types of music from Rock 'n' Roll right through to Soft Rock.
I performed in many other groups during my earlier years including, church bands, school bands / orchestras and I used to play in the Somerset Youth Orchestra as a bass trombonist.
I strongly recommend any budding musician have a go at any of the above. I believe there is no better way to develop your skills and boost your confidence when learning or trying to master any musical instrument. It's also very good fun, not only for you, but also for your fellow musicians and for anybody lucky enough to see you perform. Go on, give it a try!
